This Privacy Policy applies to all individuals whose personal information may be handled, whether as a controller or processor, by ROY Innovations also known as ROY Innov ("ROY Innovations", "We", "Us", or "Our", being ROY Innovations, its subsidiaries, affiliates and associated companies). ROY Innovations is the publisher, developer, owner and/or controller of the worldwide leading ProjectPal app — an offline-first job management application built for small businesses, tradespeople, contractors, handypeople, professionals and freelancers. From initial job creation to final invoice, ProjectPal provides the tools you need to stay organized, manage material inventory, track clients, create invoices and quotes, monitor tax obligations, collaborate with your team, and ensure timely completion of jobs ("ProjectPal"). Spend less time on admin and more time doing what you do best.
ProjectPal operates in two modes: (a) Personal Mode, where users manage their own jobs, clients, materials, invoices, quotes, custom charges and tax tracking independently on their device; and (b) Team Collaboration Mode, where users can create groups, invite team members, assign jobs, share material inventory, and sync data via the group creator's Google Drive account. All core features are free (with limits such as up to 10 active jobs and 10 AI questions per month), with an optional ProjectPal Pro subscription that unlocks unlimited active jobs, branded invoices, unlimited AI with advanced models, detailed annual reports (PDF/CSV), and inventory CSV import & export. Users may also purchase individual feature upgrades as one-time purchases without a subscription.
This Privacy Policy applies when you use royinnov.com, the ProjectPal app, branded applications and all Our related sites, communications and services ("Services").
Your Privacy is important to Us
At ROY Innovations, We respect and protect the privacy of Our users.
We understand that Our users care about how their personal information is collected, used, shared and protected and We appreciate your trust that We will do so responsibly and sensibly.
This Privacy Policy describes how We collect and process personal information about Our users ("you", "your", "yours"), how We use and protect this information and your rights in relation to this information. We do so with the intention to continually find ways to upgrade Our Services to improve and enhance your user experience. Personal Information is information, or a combination of pieces of information that could reasonably allow you or your household to be identified ("Personal Information").
Except as described in this Privacy Policy, ROY Innovations will not give, sell, rent or loan any Personal Information to any third party (including data brokers). We will NOT use your Personal Information outside the scope of this Privacy Policy.
You are informed that considering the nature and features of the ProjectPal app, We may collect by inference sensitive personal information concerning you, in particular your device model ("Sensitive Personal Information"). You understand that the collection and processing of such information is intrinsically linked to the use of the ProjectPal app and the Services We provide to you. Therefore, if you object to Our collection of such Sensitive Personal Information, you will not be able to use the ProjectPal app and are advised to stop using the ProjectPal app.
When you use Our Services, and subject to applicable law, you confirm that you accept how We collect, process, disclose and use your Personal Information. If under applicable law, it is required that your consent be obtained through other means, We will do so in accordance with such relevant applicable law.
ROY Innovations is the data controller of your Personal Information. You can withdraw your acceptance and consent at any time by emailing Our Data Protection Officer (DPO) at dpo@royinnov.com. However, please take note that if you decide to do so, you may no longer be able to use the Services.
Please read this Privacy Policy, Our Cookies Policy, and Our Disclaimers carefully.
1. Types of Information We Collect
We collect Personal Information about you from various sources as described below. ProjectPal is an offline-first application, meaning that most of your data (jobs, clients, materials, invoices, quotes, tax settings, photos and documents) is stored locally on your device. Certain features, such as the optional ProjectPal Pro subscription, one-time purchases, Google Drive backup, In-App Support, and Team Collaboration sync, require interaction with external services.
1.1 Information you provide to Us as a registered user
If you have a ProjectPal account (required for ProjectPal Pro subscription, one-time purchases, Google Drive backup, and Team Collaboration features), We may collect and process the following categories of information that you provide or make available to Us:
a. Identifiers:
- Your personal details which are provided when signing in with your Google account on the ProjectPal app (i.e. name and profile information);
- Your contact details (i.e. email address); and
- Your account login details (i.e. username and password) (encrypted).
b. Financial information: certain financial information processed through Google Play's billing system when you subscribe to the ProjectPal Pro service or make one-time feature purchases (i.e. subscription plan, purchase identifiers and payment confirmation). Note that ROY Innovations does not directly collect or store your full credit card or payment details — these are handled by Google Play.
c. Business profile information: certain information included in your business profile (i.e. business name, business email, business address, business phone number, business logo and accent colour). Note that business profile information will be included on invoices and quotes you generate and share with your clients.
d. Commercial information: information relating to your subscription and purchases (i.e. your ProjectPal Pro subscription plan — monthly or yearly — one-time feature purchases such as Unlock Reports, Unlock Branding, Unlimited Jobs, Pro Bundle, or Unlock Inventory CSV Import & Export, and/or service(s) ordered).
e. Job and project data: information you create within the app, including but not limited to:
- Job details (titles, descriptions, statuses, priorities, time logs);
- Material inventory records (names, quantities, costs, suppliers);
- Custom charges applied to jobs (call-out fees, flat rates, service charges, discounts);
- Labour tracking data (timer logs, manual time entries, hourly rates);
- Invoices and quotes (amounts, line items, client details, notes, cost breakdowns including labour, materials, charges and discounts);
- Photographs and documents attached to jobs;
- Tax and income settings applied to your account (see Section 1.1g below); and
- Team Collaboration data (group names, member assignments, job assignments, task progress and content added by team members).
Important: All job and project data is stored locally on your device by default. When you use the Backup or Team Collaboration features, this data is stored in your own Google Drive account (or the group creator's Google Drive for Team Collaboration). ROY Innovations does not store, host, or have access to this data on its own servers.
f. Client data: ProjectPal allows you to create and manage client records within the app. Client data may include your clients' names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses and any notes you associate with them. Client records are linked to jobs and are included on invoices and quotes you generate. All client data is stored locally on your device (and in your Google Drive if you use the Backup or Team Collaboration features). ROY Innovations does not have access to, collect, or process your client data. Please see Section 1D below regarding your responsibilities as a data controller for your clients' personal information.
g. Tax and income data: ProjectPal includes a tax tracking feature that allows you to set your tax rate and tax-free threshold. Based on your completed jobs, ProjectPal automatically tracks your annual income, alerts you when you exceed your tax-free allowance, calculates estimated tax owed and displays income after tax. This information may also be included in annual report exports. All tax and income data is stored locally on your device (and in your Google Drive if you use the Backup feature). ROY Innovations does not have access to, collect, or process your tax and income data.
h. AI Chat data: when you use the offline AI Assistant feature, your questions and interactions are processed locally on your device. ROY Innovations does not collect, transmit, or store your AI Chat conversations on any external server.
i. In-App Support data: ProjectPal includes an In-App Support feature that allows you to report bugs or suggest features from any screen. When you submit a support message, the following information may be collected and transmitted to ROY Innovations:
- Your name and email address (account you use to send the email);
- The content of your message (bug report, feature suggestion or other feedback);
- App version, device model and operating system information (for diagnostic purposes); and
- The screen or feature you submitted the report from (for context).
Unlike most other features in ProjectPal, In-App Support messages are transmitted to ROY Innovations when your device has an internet connection, so that Our team can read and respond to your feedback. We read every message. Support messages are retained only for as long as necessary to resolve the issue or consider the suggestion, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
j. Other additional information: when you fill out a form, submit a request to Our community support, respond to a survey, post to forums, submit ratings and reviews and participate in promotions, contests, sweepstakes and/or quizzes.
1.2 Information We collect directly from your use of Our Services
Whether you have a ProjectPal account or not, the categories of information We collect from your use of Our Services and your interactions with Us are as follows:
a. Identifiers: devices you have used to access Our Services (i.e. IP address, app/device identifier, advertising industry standard unique identifier and a "once per app installation" ID (which We generate when you install the ProjectPal app and which is then destroyed when the ProjectPal app is deleted from your device)).
b. Usage information: how you use Our Services (i.e. features accessed, pages viewed, actions taken within the app), where you are accessing from (i.e. city, country, time zone, language), details of your interactions with Our customer service (i.e. date, time and reason for contacting Us, transcripts of any chat conversations and other recordings), and details of your interactions with Our emails, messages through push and online messaging channels.
c. Device information: the technical information about your device (i.e. manufacturer, model, operating system and version), mobile information (i.e. mobile network configuration, name and country of mobile operator).
Such information will always be stored in your device. The location information will be stored in your device but will not be transmitted to Our servers.
d. Cookies and similar technologies: We and Our partners collect directly from you certain information from cookies, web beacons and similar technologies (i.e. cookie ID and settings, information on availability and delivery of ads, the site URL as well as date and time) in order to recognise you, track your behaviour on Our Services and your device and to serve you with tailored advertisements. For more information on how We use cookies and how you can manage them, please visit Our Cookies Policy.
1.3 Information We collect from other sources
The categories of information We collect from other companies with whom you have a relationship ("Partner"), social media third parties and other sources. These Partner, social media third parties and other sources may provide, depending on the Service you use, the following information:
a. Registration through Partner site: Personal Information that you give to Partner sites when you use these sites to sign up for, or log into, your ProjectPal account (i.e. Google). The Partner service may send Us the following information:
- Our Services activation information: your personal details (i.e. name) and contact details (i.e. email address);
- Identifiers: device information (i.e. IP address, device ID or other unique identifiers as well as associated pre-paid promotions);
This information is controlled by the Partner service or as authorised by you via your privacy settings on the Partner service.
1A. Google Drive Integration & Team Collaboration
ProjectPal offers two features that interact with Google Drive: Personal Backup & Restore and Team Collaboration. This section explains how your data is handled in both scenarios.
1A.1 Personal Backup & Restore
When you use the Backup feature, ProjectPal saves your data (jobs, clients, materials, invoices, quotes, custom charges, tax settings, photos and documents) to your own Google Drive account. Backup data is encrypted before being uploaded to your Google Drive to provide an additional layer of protection. This backup is controlled entirely by you. ROY Innovations does not have access to, cannot read, modify, or delete your backed-up data. The Restore feature retrieves this data from your Google Drive back to your device. You may delete your backed-up data at any time directly from your Google Drive.
1A.2 Team Collaboration
The Team Collaboration feature (currently in Beta) allows you to create groups and invite other ProjectPal users to collaborate on jobs. Here is how data is handled:
- Group Creation: When a user ("Group Owner") creates a team group, ProjectPal creates a shared data folder in the Group Owner's Google Drive account. All team data (jobs, material inventory, assignments, and progress updates) is stored in this folder.
- Inviting Members: When the Group Owner invites team members, ProjectPal grants those members access to the shared data folder in the Group Owner's Google Drive. This allows invited members to read and contribute to the shared jobs and materials.
- Member Contributions: Invited team members can view assigned jobs, add content and progress updates to those jobs, and access the shared material inventory. Members can manually sync their contributions, or the app will automatically sync when it resumes.
- Data Ownership & Control: The Group Owner retains full ownership and control of all team data, as it resides in their Google Drive. The Group Owner can revoke access to any member at any time, remove members from the group, or delete the group entirely. ROY Innovations does not store, host, or have access to team collaboration data on its own servers.
- Member's Personal Information: When a user joins a team group, their name and email address (as provided by their Google account) may be visible to the Group Owner and other members of the same group for the purpose of collaboration.
1A.3 Google Drive Permissions
To enable Backup and Team Collaboration features, ProjectPal requests the following Google Drive permissions:
- Create, read, update and delete files within the app-specific folder in your Google Drive (for personal backup data);
- Create and manage shared folders in the Group Owner's Google Drive (for team collaboration data); and
- Grant and revoke file access to invited team members' Google accounts (for team collaboration only).
ProjectPal only accesses folders and files that it has created. It does not access, read, or modify any other files in your Google Drive. You may revoke these permissions at any time through your Google Account permissions settings. Revoking permissions will disable the Backup and/or Team Collaboration features.
1B. Offline AI Assistant
ProjectPal includes an offline AI Assistant that allows you to interact with AI models directly on your device. Here is how data is handled:
- On-Device Processing: All AI Assistant conversations are processed locally on your device using on-device AI models. Your questions, prompts, and the AI's responses are not transmitted to ROY Innovations or any third-party server. The AI Assistant is fully offline and private.
- Free Tier: All users have free access to one AI model with up to 10 questions per month. No account or subscription is required to use the free AI tier.
- ProjectPal Pro Subscription: Users who subscribe to ProjectPal Pro (monthly at £3.99 or yearly at £29.99, with a 1 month free trial; prices may vary by region) gain access to unlimited AI questions with advanced AI models, in addition to other Pro features such as unlimited active jobs, branded invoices, detailed annual reports (PDF/CSV with monthly breakdown and tax insights) and inventory CSV import & export. Subscription management and payment processing are handled entirely through Google Play's billing system.
- One-Time Purchases: As an alternative to a subscription, users may purchase individual feature upgrades as one-time purchases (e.g. Unlock Reports, Unlock Branding, Unlimited Jobs, Pro Bundle, Unlock Inventory CSV Import & Export). One-time purchases are processed through Google Play's billing system and are kept forever once purchased.
- No Data Collection: ROY Innovations does not collect, store, access, or transmit your AI Assistant conversations or any data generated through the AI Assistant feature.
1C. Tax Calculations & Annual Reports
ProjectPal includes tax tracking and annual reporting features to help you stay on top of your tax obligations. Here is how your data is handled:
- Tax Settings: You may configure your tax rate and tax-free threshold within the app. These settings are stored locally on your device (and in your Google Drive if you use the Backup feature).
- Income Tracking: ProjectPal automatically calculates your annual income based on completed jobs, alerts you when you exceed your tax-free allowance, estimates tax owed and displays income after tax. All calculations are performed locally on your device.
- Annual Reports: Free users can view a basic annual report with tax obligations. ProjectPal Pro users (or users who have purchased the Unlock Reports upgrade) can export detailed annual reports as PDF or CSV files with monthly breakdowns, tax insights, estimated tax owed and after-tax income.
- No Data Transmission: Your tax settings, income data and annual report data are not transmitted to ROY Innovations or any third-party server. All processing occurs on your device.
1D. Client Information & Your Responsibilities
ProjectPal allows you to create, store and manage records about your clients, including their names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses and related job history. This section explains how client data is handled and your responsibilities.
- Local Storage: All client data is stored locally on your device by default. If you use the Google Drive Backup or Team Collaboration features, client data may also be stored in your (or the Group Owner's) Google Drive account, encrypted where applicable.
- No Access by ROY Innovations: ROY Innovations does not have access to, collect, transmit, or process your client data at any time. Your clients' information stays completely private between you (and your team group members, if applicable).
- Invoices and Quotes: Client details you enter may be included on invoices and quotes you generate and share. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the appropriate consent or legal basis to include your clients' personal information on such documents.
- Your Responsibility as Data Controller: When you
store personal information about your clients within ProjectPal,
you act as the data controller for that
information under applicable data protection laws (such as GDPR
or equivalent legislation in your jurisdiction). ROY Innovations
is not a data controller or processor of your clients' personal
data, as We never have access to it. You are responsible for:
- Ensuring you have a lawful basis for collecting and storing your clients' personal information;
- Informing your clients about how their data is stored and used;
- Responding to any data access, rectification or deletion requests from your clients; and
- Safeguarding your device and Google Drive account to protect your clients' data from unauthorised access.
1E. In-App Support
ProjectPal includes an In-App Support feature that allows you to report bugs or suggest features from any screen within the app. Here is how your data is handled:
- Data Transmitted: When you submit a support message, the content of your message, along with contextual information (such as your name, email address if signed in, app version, device model, operating system version and the screen you submitted from) is transmitted to ROY Innovations when your device has an internet connection. If you are offline when you submit a support message, it will be queued and sent when connectivity is restored.
- Purpose: We use In-App Support data solely to diagnose and resolve bugs, consider feature suggestions, improve the app and respond to your feedback. We read every message.
- Retention: Support messages are retained only for as long as necessary to resolve the reported issue or consider the suggestion, after which they are deleted, unless a longer retention period is required by law or for ongoing service improvement.
- No Job or Client Data: The In-App Support feature does not transmit your job data, client records, invoices, quotes, materials, tax settings, AI conversations or any other locally stored content to ROY Innovations. Only your message and the diagnostic metadata described above are sent.
2. How We Use Information We Collect
The information We collect from you ensures you can access and use Our Services in a safe environment. To help Us achieve this, We may use your information for the following purposes:
2.1 Our Services: We may use your information to:
- facilitate your use and access to Our Services;
- authenticate you when you log in to Our Services via Google Sign-In;
- facilitate Google Drive backup, restore, and Team Collaboration sync functionality;
- process subscription payments for the ProjectPal Pro service and one-time feature purchases through Google Play's billing system;
- manage subscription, purchase and account activities;
- facilitate on-device tax calculations, income tracking, and annual report generation;
- receive and respond to your In-App Support messages, including bug reports and feature suggestions;
- provide customer support related to the app and its features.
2.2 Advertising: We and Our third-party advertisers may use your Personal Information to serve you with advertisements that may interest you (you may refer below for more information on Our third party advertisers). Note that the ProjectPal app may display ads to free users.
2.3 Marketing: We use your information to send you promotional messages, newsletters, marketing and other information that may be of interest to you based on your communication preferences. We, and Our third-party business partners, may also use your Personal Information, on and off Our Services, to serve you with advertisements of Our Services. From time to time, We, and Our third-party service providers and/or business partners, may also use your information to administrate surveys, questionnaires, sweepstakes, contests, referral programs or other promotional or market research activities or events managed by Us, @royinnov.com and/or Our partners if you consent.
2.4 Communication: We use your information to contact you to inform and update you about changes related to the Services, as well as to maintain Our Services and to respond and resolve your support requests (including In-App Support messages), questions and issues.
2.5 Security: We use your Personal Information should We think it is necessary to investigate and prevent security issues and abuse.
2.6 Research and service improvement: In an effort to provide you with the best services, We may use your information to conduct research for further development of Our Services, including improving the offline AI models, app functionality and prioritising feature development based on In-App Support feedback. Note that We do not use your job data, client data, invoices, tax information or AI conversations for research purposes, as We do not have access to this information.
2.7 Legal: We may use your information to comply with legal obligations to which We are subject, protect Our intellectual property (including but not limited to Our copyright and trademarks) and enforce Our Terms of Use and cooperate with regulators and law enforcement bodies.
3. How We Share Information
3.1 We may disclose your Personal Information to the following parties:
a. Service providers: We share your Personal Information with Our service providers that perform services in support of Our business operations (for example, We may engage other companies to provide authentication services, process subscription payments and one-time purchases, provide analytics, send newsletters and marketing emails, administer Our promotions, sweepstakes, contests and surveys, and support email and messaging services). We notably implement Google Sign-In SDK(s) (Android) and Google Drive API. These are subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which may be updated from time to time. You may find the complete list of Our service providers and their respective privacy policies here.
In respect to targeted advertising services, We do not have access to or control over cookies, platform device identifiers or other technologies that third party advertisers may use and are not responsible for their privacy practices.
b. Team Collaboration participants: When you participate in a Team Collaboration group, your name and email address (as provided by your Google account) will be shared with other members of your group. Job data, material records, client details associated with shared jobs, and content you contribute to assigned jobs will be accessible to all members of the group via the Group Owner's Google Drive. You consent to this sharing when you create or join a team group.
c. In-App Support processing: When you submit a bug report or feature suggestion via the In-App Support feature, your message content and associated diagnostic metadata (as described in Section 1E) are transmitted to and processed by ROY Innovations. We may use third-party support or communication tools to manage and respond to support messages, in which case your support data may be processed by such third-party providers in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
d. Legal Obligations: We may share your Personal Information with these parties where We believe this is necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation, or otherwise to protect Our rights or the rights of any third party.
e. Asset purchasers: We may share your Personal Information with any third-party that purchases, or to which We transfer, all or substantially all of Our assets and business. Should such a sale or transfer occur, We will use reasonable efforts to try to ensure that the entity to which We transfer your Personal Information uses it in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy.
3.2 The following categories of Personal Information may be shared with the parties listed above:
- Identifiers;
- Commercial information;
- Geolocation data;
- Device information;
- Activity information;
- Cookies;
- In-App Support data (message content and diagnostic metadata — shared only with ROY Innovations and Our support service providers); and
- Team Collaboration data (name, email, and contributed content — shared only within your team group via Google Drive).
3.3 The following information is NOT shared with ROY Innovations or any third party:
- Your locally stored job, material, invoice, quote, and custom charge data (unless you choose to back up to Google Drive or participate in Team Collaboration);
- Your client records and client personal information (stored locally on your device or in your Google Drive only);
- Your tax settings, income data, estimated tax calculations and annual report data (stored locally on your device or in your Google Drive only);
- Your AI Assistant conversations (processed entirely on-device);
- Your Google Drive backup contents (accessible only to you or your team group members); and
- Your labour tracking data, timer logs and time entries (stored locally on your device or in your Google Drive only).
3.4 For California residents only: California law requires that We describe certain disclosures of Personal Information that involve monetary or other consideration. California law treats such disclosures as "sales" even if no money is exchanged. Such sales include Our sharing of Personal Information with third party advertisers as described below. The following categories of Personal Information may be shared with these parties:
- Identifiers;
- Geolocation data; and
- Cookies.
4. Third Party Websites and Services
Our Services may contain links to other third-party websites and integrate with third-party services. The following third-party services are used by ProjectPal:
- Google Sign-In: for user authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Drive API: for personal data backup/restore (encrypted) and Team Collaboration sync. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing: for processing ProjectPal Pro subscription payments and one-time feature purchases. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- On-Device AI Models: The AI Assistant uses on-device machine learning models that run entirely on your device. No third-party AI service or cloud API is used. Your AI conversations are never transmitted externally.
We encourage you to be aware of these other third-party websites and services and their privacy statements, as We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these third-party sites.
5. Data Storage and Offline-First Architecture
ProjectPal is designed as an offline-first application. This means:
- Local Storage: All your job data, client records, material inventory, invoices, quotes, custom charges, labour and time tracking data, tax settings, income data, annual report data, photos, documents, and AI Assistant conversations are stored locally on your device by default.
- Google Drive Storage: When you choose to use the Backup feature, your data is encrypted and uploaded to your own Google Drive account. When you participate in Team Collaboration, shared data is stored in the Group Owner's Google Drive account. Your data is on your Drive — We never store your data on Our servers.
- No ROY Innovations Servers: Your job data, client records, materials, invoices, quotes, custom charges, tax settings, income data, photos, documents, and AI conversations are not stored on ROY Innovations' servers. We do not operate cloud storage infrastructure for user content. The only data transmitted to Us is In-App Support messages (see Section 1E) and account/subscription information.
- Encryption: Google Drive backups are encrypted before upload to provide an additional layer of security for your data. On-device data is protected by your device's own security measures (e.g. device lock, encryption).
- Offline Sync: All core features work without internet — you can create jobs, generate invoices, track time, manage clients, calculate tax and use the AI Assistant with no signal. Data syncs to Google Drive when you reconnect, making ProjectPal perfect for building sites, rural areas and signal dead zones.
- Device Responsibility: Since data is stored locally on your device, you are responsible for maintaining backups of your data. We strongly recommend using the Google Drive backup feature regularly to prevent data loss due to device failure, loss, or theft.
6. Your Choices and Your Rights Over Your Personal Information
6.1 Your choices
You may in some cases have the option to decline providing Us information. However, your choice to not provide information may impact your use of certain features or all of Our Services. Please find below some choices you have over your Personal Information.
a. Account: You are not required to create an account to use ProjectPal's core features (job management, clients, materials, invoices, quotes, custom charges, labour tracking, tax calculations and the free AI tier). An account (via Google Sign-In) is required to use Google Drive Backup, Team Collaboration, ProjectPal Pro subscription and one-time purchases.
b. Google Drive Access: You may revoke ProjectPal's access to your Google Drive at any time through your Google Account permissions settings. This will disable the Backup and Team Collaboration features but will not affect your locally stored data.
c. Team Collaboration: You may leave a team group at any time. You may also decline invitations to join groups. As a Group Owner, you may remove members from your group at any time, which revokes their access to the shared data.
d. ProjectPal Pro Subscription & One-Time Purchases: You may cancel your ProjectPal Pro subscription at any time through the Google Play Store. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to the free tier features (up to 10 active jobs, 1 AI model with 10 questions per month, basic annual report). Any one-time purchases you have made (such as Unlock Reports, Unlock Branding, Unlimited Jobs, Pro Bundle, or Unlock Inventory CSV Import & Export) are yours to keep forever and are not affected by subscription cancellation. If you subscribed to ProjectPal Pro with a free trial, you may cancel at any time during the trial period without being charged.
e. Marketing Communication: You can unsubscribe or opt-out of receiving marketing communications from Us by using the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of an automatic email or by contacting Us through Our Services. Please note that even if you opt-out of receiving marketing communication, We may continue to send you non-marketing emails and other types of communications, as permitted by law, such as response to your support requests, or service emails relating to your account.
f. Cookies: You may control the use of cookies at the browser level. If you choose to disable cookies, it may limit your use of certain features or functions on Our Services. For more information on how We use cookies and how you can manage them, please see Our Cookies Policy.
g. Data Deletion: You may delete your locally stored data at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app. This includes all jobs, clients, materials, invoices, quotes, custom charges, tax settings, income data, labour logs and AI conversations. To delete data backed up to Google Drive, you may do so directly from your Google Drive. To request deletion of any Personal Information held by ROY Innovations (such as account information or In-App Support messages), contact Us at dpo@royinnov.com.
h. In-App Support: Use of the In-App Support feature is entirely voluntary. You are not required to submit bug reports or feature suggestions to use ProjectPal. If you choose to submit a support message, please be aware that the content of your message and associated diagnostic metadata will be transmitted to ROY Innovations (see Section 1E). We recommend that you do not include sensitive personal information, client data, or financial details in your support messages unless strictly necessary to describe the issue.
i. Tax & Income Settings: Use of the tax tracking and annual reporting features is entirely voluntary. You are not required to configure your tax rate or tax-free threshold to use ProjectPal's core job management features. If you choose to use these features, all tax and income data remains stored locally on your device (and in your Google Drive if you use the Backup feature) and is never transmitted to ROY Innovations.
j. Client Data: You may edit or delete any client record at any time within the app. Deleting a client record removes that client's personal information from your device. If you have backed up data to Google Drive, you should also update or delete the backup to ensure the client's information is fully removed. You are responsible for responding to any data requests from your clients regarding their personal information stored within your ProjectPal account (see Section 1D).
6.2 Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding information that We have collected and that is related to you. We encourage you to contact Us to update or correct your information if it changes or if you believe that any information that We have collected about you is inaccurate.
Please note that We will likely require additional information from you in order to honour your requests and We may reject requests that are unreasonable or not required by law, including those that would be extremely impractical, could require disproportionate technical effort, or could expose Us to operational risks such as free trial fraud.
If you would like to exercise such rights, send Us an email at dpo@royinnov.com.
6.2.1 Your rights over your Personal Information under law
a. General rights: As stated above, you may have certain rights under the applicable law and limitations, including the right to:
- access your Personal Information (including the right to receive a copy of the Personal Information We process as well as the sources from which We collect);
- rectify the information We hold about you;
- erase your Personal Information;
- restrict Our use of your Personal Information;
- object to Our use of your Personal Information;
- receive your Personal Information in a usable electronic format and transmit it to an external party (right to data portability);
- instruct Us, in advance, on how you want Us to manage your Personal Information upon your demise; and
- make a complaint to your data protection authority.
b. Data Transfers, Storage and Processing Globally: We operate globally and may need to transfer, store and/or process your Personal Information to ROY Innovations or third parties in locations around the world for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Wherever your Personal Information is transferred, stored or processed by Us, We will take reasonable steps to safeguard the privacy of your Personal Information. These steps may include implementing standard contractual clauses where recognised by law and relevant supplementary measures, obtaining your consent, or other lawful means of transferring Personal Information. Note that data stored in Google Drive is subject to Google's data storage and processing policies.
6.2.2 Additional provisions applicable to European Union ("EU") users
a. Legal basis for processing your Personal Information: if you are accessing Our Services from the EU, We must have a legal basis to process your Personal Information. There are different legal bases that We rely on to use your Personal Information:
i. Performance of a contract: The use of your information may be necessary to perform the terms and conditions or other contractual obligations and policies under which We provide Our Services to you. Failure to provide this information may prevent or delay the performance of these contractual obligations.
ii. Consent: We will rely on your consent to use:
- technical information such as cookie and similar technologies;
- your information for marketing and advertising purposes;
- Google Drive access for Backup and Team Collaboration features (consent is given when you authorise Google Drive access within the app); and
- In-App Support data transmission (consent is given when you voluntarily submit a bug report or feature suggestion).
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting Us using the information at the end of this Privacy Policy, by following an unsubscribe link in any marketing communication you receive from Us, or by revoking Google Drive permissions through your Google Account settings.
iii. Legitimate Interests: We use your Personal Information for Our legitimate interests which are to:
- understand how you use Our Services;
- improve Our Services based on usage patterns and In-App Support feedback;
- maintain security of the Services; and
- share information with dpo@royinnov.com for internal administration.
In such circumstances, We put in place robust safeguards to ensure that your privacy is protected and ensure that Our legitimate interests are not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.
iv. Legal obligation: In some cases, We may also have a legal obligation to collect your Personal Information.
b. Additional rights applicable to California users: If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- The right to know what Personal Information we collect, including the sources, purposes, and categories of third parties with whom we share it;

-
For users under 16 years of age:
- If you are between 13 and 16 years old, you must opt in to the sale or sharing of your Personal Information;
- If you are 16 years or older, you may opt out of the sale or sharing of your Personal Information.
7. Security
We care about the security of your Personal Information and are committed to ensuring the security of your Personal Information. We implement technical and organizational measures (such as firewalls, data encryption and information access controls) to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk to the Personal Information We process. These measures are aimed at ensuring the on-going integrity and confidentiality of your Personal Information.
In relation to Google Drive backups, your data is encrypted before being uploaded to your Google Drive account. This means that even if someone were to gain access to your Google Drive, the raw backup files would not be readable without decryption through the ProjectPal app. This provides an additional layer of protection beyond Google Drive's own security measures.
In relation to the Team Collaboration feature, data security for shared content relies on Google Drive's access control mechanisms. When a Group Owner invites a member, that member receives access to the shared data folder. When a member is removed or leaves the group, their access is revoked. However, ROY Innovations cannot guarantee that a removed member has not retained copies of data they previously had access to. Group Owners should exercise discretion when inviting members and sharing sensitive business information (including client data) through the Team Collaboration feature.
In relation to In-App Support messages, data transmitted to ROY Innovations is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Support messages are stored securely and access is restricted to authorised ROY Innovations personnel.
No company can guarantee that data may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of Our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards. No internet, e-mail or other electronic transmission is ever fully secure or error free, so you should take care in deciding what information you send to Us in this way. We need your help too: it is your responsibility to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate and that your password is unique, secure and not shared with third parties.
8. How Long Do We Store Your Information
We will keep your Personal Information for as long as We have a relationship with you (i.e. as long as you have access to the Services and for archive under applicable limitation periods). We will only retain your Personal Information after this time if We are required to do so to comply with applicable law, or if there are outstanding claims or complaints that will reasonably require your Personal Information to be retained.
With respect to data stored locally on your device, this data persists until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app. This includes all jobs, clients, materials, invoices, quotes, custom charges, tax settings, income data, labour logs and AI conversations. Data backed up to Google Drive persists until you delete it from your Google Drive. Team Collaboration data persists in the Group Owner's Google Drive until the Group Owner deletes it.
With respect to In-App Support messages, these are retained only for as long as necessary to resolve the reported issue or consider the suggestion, after which they are deleted, unless a longer retention period is required by law or for ongoing service improvement purposes.
With respect to subscription and purchase records, these are maintained through Google Play's billing system and are subject to Google's retention policies. ROY Innovations retains subscription and purchase status information for as long as necessary to provide the purchased services and features.
As a user, you may access certain Services without having to create or log-in to an account, in such circumstances it may not be possible for Us to determine your active status. Hence if you would like to exercise your right to delete, send Us an email at dpo@royinnov.com.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Services are intended for tradespeople, contractors, handypeople, professionals and small to medium enterprises, and are not directed at individuals under the age of 13, or other minimum age for providing consent to data collection under applicable law.
